Manual Therapy: Classic Massage
Manual therapy comprises structured hands-on techniques applied to joints, muscles, and connective tissue within an integrative medical framework. It is used to influence mobility, tissue tension, and functional movement patterns of the musculoskeletal system.
The therapy is tailored individually and integrated into a broader treatment concept based on clinical findings and overall medical assessment.
Lymphatic Drainage
The lymphatic system transports approximately two liters of interstitial fluid per day, carrying waste products, dead cells, and protein residues out of the body. Lymphatic drainage is a very gentle and relaxing technique that supports this natural process and promotes drainage in cases of fluid accumulation in the tissues.
At BioMed Center Sonnenberg, the detoxifying effect of lymphatic drainage is used to support treatment programmes focused on detoxification and elimination of unwanted substances.
Cupping
Cupping therapy uses special glass cups applied to the skin with vacuum. This technique draws stagnant blood toward the surface, stimulates circulation, and activates lymphatic flow. Temporary redness or bruising may occur and can remain visible for up to one week after treatment.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a key treatment method within Traditional Chinese Medicine. Specific points on the body are stimulated using fine needles with the aim of harmonizing energy flow, alleviating complaints, and activating the body’s self-healing capacity.
Poultices
Poultices are a traditional therapeutic method that has become less common with the rise of modern medicine. At BioMed Center Sonnenberg, poultices are used to relieve pain, muscular tension, inflammation, and to support detoxification.
Poultices contain plant extracts and/or essential oils. Their effect may be enhanced through targeted heating or cooling.
Foot Reflexology Massage
Foot reflexology applies specific pressure and stroking techniques to defined zones of the feet that are connected to organs and body systems. This therapy stimulates the musculoskeletal, hormonal, and lymphatic systems and supports the activation of the body’s self-healing processes.
Connective Tissue Massage
Connective tissue massage is a reflex zone therapy involving manual stimulation of the fascia. Through nerve pathways, this stimulation influences underlying structures and internal organs, supporting regulation and harmonization of the vegetative nervous system.
