What are DICOM data?

DICOM is an international standard used to store medical images such as CT and MRI scans. Each CT or MRI image slice is usually stored as a separate DICOM file with a ".dcm" file extension, but this is not always the case. DICOM file names can also consist of long strings of numbers without a file extension.

I am already a patient of Dr. Rau why do I have to fill out the questionnaire and request my data?

Your patient data will always remain with the doctor's office or the clinic where you have been treated till now. 

Although you have already been treated by Dr. Rau at the Paracelsus Clinic, Lustmühle, the clinic remains responsible for your data. It is not allowed to simply transfer this data by the doctor. Patient data may only be released directly upon request of a patient. The data protection for medical data is very clear.

It is necessary to complete and submit the registration form again because BioMed Center Sonnenberg AG is an independent facility. For patient protection and legal reasons, we are required to have a completed and signed questionnaire from each patient. However, this process does not affect your treatment, which can continue as usual after we have received your registration form.

Since personal information is discussed, we reserve the right to require the completion of the questionnaire, as well for online appointments. Furthermore, this serves to protect the patient and for legal reasons, we are obliged to have a completed and signed questionnaire from each patient.

How do I get an appointment or register?

In order to make an appointment, we need some information from you in advance. Therefore, we ask you to complete and send the health questionnaire

Will my health insurance cover the costs?

The coverage of costs by each health insurance company is regulated individually, as our treatments are mostly billed through supplementary insurance. Swiss insurance companies cover only a small part or no cost of the treatments.
 
From experience, foreign health insurance companies do not cover the cost of treatment. However, there are a few exceptions. We recommend that you contact your insurance company prior to your visit to determine if you have cost coverage. It is also important to clarify whether you will be reimbursed a part of the costs, if any, by your health insurance company, as a deposit is required.

Is the Sonnenberg BioMed Center equipped for people with handicap / wheelchair?

All floors are accessible by lift and the building is wheelchair accessible. 
Please note that there is no 24-hour assistance or medical support at the hotel. If you are in need of assistance, we recommend that you organize this before your visit. 
You are welcome to discuss the details with us in person when you check-in.

We are happy to book a shuttle service for you for your arrival. Please inform us if needed.

The Sonnenberg Health Hotel is in the same building. The rooms are directly accessible by elevator.

Please note that there is no 24-hour care and medical supervision in the hotel.
